I remember clearly my first important task as an audio professional back in the days when I was the Market Development Manager for Audio-Technica Malaysia, was to create brand awarness in the professional audio industry for Audio-Technica. One of the most unforgettable experience was getting involved in Borneo International Jazz Festival (BIJF)and Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).
One fine day, we came up with a kick ass idea to bring our microphones to the toughest test field in the region, the world's top 10 music festival. Well since all the big guys are not doing it, let's do it.
Why is it the toughest? Well, you have to mic up all sorts of ethic and sometimes, not perfectly engineered musical instruments from all around the world..... In the backdrop of a forest. But it was tons of fun.
